Daniel Hope (born 17 August 1973)〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.danielhope.com/the-violinist/biography/ )〕 is a British classical violinist. In 2016 he will succeed Sir Roger Norrington as Music Director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra (ZKO). Hope was born in Durban, South Africa, and moved as a child with his family to London, where he was educated at Highgate School and received tuition by Yehudi Menuhin. Hope was a member of the Beaux Arts Trio from 2002 until the ensemble was disbanded in 2008. In 2011 he was appointed Visiting Professor in Violin by the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied under Zakhar Bron and gained a diploma (DipRAM) and a fellowship (FRAM). Hope presented the 2013 documentary film ''The Secrets of the Violin'' which explored the history of violin making from Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri to modern makers like Samuel Zygmuntowicz.〔(''Daniel Hope: The Secrets of the Violin'' (2013) ), C major Entertainment〕 The film also covered the role of the violin dealer Dietmar Machold who was jailed in Vienna for six years for fraudulent bankruptcy.
